Daily Exercise Routines for Kids
Exercise is not only helpful for adults but also for kids. Kids used to have a lot of exercise from running around and playing outdoor games or simply by just getting excited. But today kids are no longer doing that. Modern technology has changed their idea of games and fun. Video games make them stay indoors longer than they should and playgrounds and vacant lots are not as interesting as before. The dangers that lurk behind the idea of kids playing without supervision have made it difficult for them to do so. And for this reason, some fitness exercises must not only be encouraged on kids but more so, it should be incorporated in their daily activities. Most especially since most kids today are so fond of soda and they feast on loads of junk food and fast foods.
The following are four basic and fun exercise activities that parents should encourage their kids for them to be fit and healthy.
1. Swimming
A family who has a pool in their backyard usually does not realize its full potential - having a pool is actually like having your own gym at home! Although a family pool is usually used for fun and gatherings, it is also a best place for exercise. Swimming moves all the muscles that every growing child needs to develop without using weights or jogging which could sometimes be harmful to kids. But of course, do not leave your child swimming in the pool without adult supervision.
2. Calisthenics
Calisthenics can be considered as out of vogue in PE classes in many schools, but it’s never left the military, so it should have important use. Exercises such as jumping jacks, toe touches, pushups, sit ups, deep knee bends are much easier to learn and can be truly fun to do if you add a twist to them.
3. Dancing
Even though some parents might find this a little off, dancing with your kids is still a good way to exercise. You can make use of your kid’s music and do your kid’s moves or teach them one of your own. Dance vigorously and it can give you a good cardiovascular workout routine. You can even use an aerobic dance video and call a dance party at home. This is not only healthy to do but more so it’s more fun to do.
4. Jump Rope and Hula-Hoop
Kids these days don’t jump and do the Hula-Hoop that much as before. Even though there are virtual versions of these activities, nothing can beat the real McCoy. Besides exercising the muscles, both can enhance coordination, facilitate blood flow towards the brain and also to enhance flexibility.
